Business at Beckfoot Upper Heaton

In today’s ever-changing world and rapidly changing job market, entrepreneurial skills are vital for success.

At Beckfoot Upper Heaton we encourage our students to aim high. Enterprising is mostly seen as a talent but can be learned skill. We introduce the basics of how business enterprises promote & manage their money to our students in KS3, so they have an opportunity to make an informed choice when it comes to have Enterprise/Business studies as their GCSE option.

With changes in modern business world & technology students need to be equipped with updated knowledge that can help them translate their creativity & imagination into substantial social cause or income source.

Enrichment

In previous years we had workshops & external speakers from Bank of England & local successful entrepreneurs. This is where students got to listen & ask questions from the successful people from the real business world at national & local level. We also arranged a workshop for year 9 students where students worked out costing & price setting for a micro enterprising idea. We also plan to start providing co-curricular to year 9 students with both product & promotion design.

Assessment

Beckfoot Upper Heaton currently offers the BTEC Award in Enterprise.

Students study 3 components over three years, and must pass all three in order to get an overall grade in the course.
